REPUBLIC, MI – Steven F. Rominiecki, age 56, of 7608 Oak Dr., Republic passed away on Thursday January 17, 2019 at his home following a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was in the care of family and friends along with the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Steven was born December 20, 1962 in San Diego, CA the son of the late Frank and Lorraine (Nyback) Rominiecki. He moved to Philadelphia, PA in his youth and had graduated from high school there. Steven worked for the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local #1329, working construction projects throughout the United States prior to his retirement.
Steven had spent the last 34 years in Republic and truly loved the outdoors, especially living on the Michigamme River. He considered himself one of the “Deadheads” and was an avid listener to Grateful Dead music and attended many Grateful Dead concerts. He will be missed by his best friend Raz who was his current canine companion.
Survivors include his aunt Mae Lamond of Republic, uncle Ronald Nyback of Champion, cousins – Chris Rosselli of Philadelphia, Donna Weimann and her son Dylan of Republic, along with numerous other cousins, his closest friend and neighbor Tamara Granlund of Republic and special friends – Mike McMonagle, Scott Viau, Charles Boshears and Jack & Jeanne Mathews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his former canine companions.
Per Steven’s wishes cremation will take place and no public services will be held.
