Lisa Gollinger

OJAI, CA – Lisa Sue Gollinger, 50 of Ojai, CA and formerly of Munising, MI passed away December 24, 2018 after a short but very brave battle with cancer.

Lisa was born on March 8, 1968 to Jack and Lola Gollinger, the youngest of six children. Lisa graduated from Munising High School in 1986. She attended Suomi College where she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science. After college graduation she worked for Holiday Travel in Marquette and Munising. In 1989 Lisa moved to Ojai, CA where she again worked as a travel agent. She then went on to become a certified Massage Therapist for several years. Most recently she worked as a home stager for Ojai Homes, of Ojai.

Lisa’s greatest life achievement was of course being Amara’s mom which she treasured very much. Although her time with Amara was cut short, Lisa was the best cheerleader, coach, consoler, and the best half of a car singing duet a daughter could ever have. They cherished their trips to the family camp on Mirror Lake every summer. Although Lisa lived in California for 30 years a big piece of her heart was always in Munising where she loved spending time with family and catching up with old friends.

Lisa was passionate about life and took nothing for granted. She loved nature and was never happier than when she was hiking, biking, or just spending time outdoors. She dedicated herself to living a healthier and more holistic life and studied Ayurveda and massage therapy. She was always finding ways to help others and often aided the most wayward souls.

Lisa is survived by her daughter Amara Maloof age 12, of Ojai, CA; her mother, Lola Gollinger of Munising, her siblings, Scott (Amy) Gollinger of Davidson, NC, Jackie (Jonathan) Parker of Oak View, CA, Paul (Karin) Gollinger of Munising, Patty Ann (Mike) Eiseman of Munising, David (Shelby) Gollinger of Huntington Beach, CA. Nieces and nephews, Heidi, Kirsten, Daren, Jamie, Jack and Cambria, and Lisa’s partner of 6 years, Tom Patison of Ojai, Ca.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father John (Jack) Gollinger of Munising.

At Lisa’s request there will be no funeral services but instead there will be two celebrations of Lisa’s life for family and friends. The first will be held January 13, 2019 from 3-6 pm at Lisa’s home at 720 Alomar St. in Ojai, Ca.

A second celebration for family and friends will be held in August in Munising with time and date to be determined.
