Kay Elizabeth Nease

SANTA FE, NM – Kay Elizabeth Nease 59, a longtime resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away on December 23, 2018 due to cancer.

She was born on January 11, 1959 in Ishpeming, MI to Margaret L. Nease and Jack K. Nease.

Kay is preceded in death by her father Jack K. Nease and her longtime companion Jim Destefano.

She is survived by her mother: Margaret L. Nease of Marquette, MI, brother: Keith M. Nease of Hope Mills, NC, sisters: Debra A. Nease and Mary B. Erbisch from Marquette, MI, sister-in-law: Rosemary J. Nease from Hope Mills, NC, brother-in-law: Scott H. Erbisch from Marquette, MI, nieces: Mani A. Nease, Guinevere J. Nease, nephew: Jesse M. Nease and step-nephew: Ryan L. Combs.

Kay was a Teacher for Santa Fe Public Schools, and former teacher at Los Alamos Public Schools, she was a graduate of Northern Michigan University in Teaching and received a Master’s Degree from Lesley University. She loved to hike and was a member of The Burros Hiking Group.

Kay loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hiking, bicycling, downhill skiing, fly fishing, and back country camping. She also loved music, musical performance, and dance. She loved to gardening, especially her rose plants. Her beautiful smile, humor and adventurous spirit will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
