Patricia Carol ‘Patty’ Masters

Patricia Masters

MUNISING, MI – Patricia Carol Masters, “Patty” to her friends, passed away on September 12, 2018, at the Medilodge Nursing Home in Munising.

She is survived by her children: Colleen (Mitch) Skazalski, of Milford, Michigan, Kathleen (Steve) Sowa, of Munising, and Donald Masters and Gregg Masters, both also of Munising; as well as four grandchildren, Leslie Chidsey, Allison Masters, Brent Sowa, and Paige Sowa.

Patty was a lifelong resident of Munising, born on December 26, 1936, to Patrick and Pearl Dolan. Her two sisters, Bonita Holloway, and Kathleen Baril, have both preceded her in death, and also her husband Dick died in June of 2015.

Patty was a 1954 graduate of Mather High School, and she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Masters, in December of 1954. Patty and Dick were both active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Munising for their entire lives, and Patty was always helping with something at the church. She was artistic and creative, and she would often use her calligraphy skills to make beautiful posters and certificates for church activities. When Patty wasn’t busy with church activities, she liked to spend time out at their camp on Tie Lake. They were always working on some project out there, and it was a labor of love. Patty also had a good sense of humor, and she was always looking for the funny side of life. She loved to laugh whenever she could.

She was a loving wife and mother, and she will be greatly missed.

Services for Patty will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018. Visiting time with family and friends will be held at the First Presbyterian church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Pastor Jim Rodgers will conduct her memorial service at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow in the church hall.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
