Patricia A. Wilkinson

GWINN, MI – Patricia Ann “Pattie” Wilkinson of Gwinn, MI, formerly of Swartz Creek, MI passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Friday, September 21, 2018.

Pattie was born on December 18, 1944 to the late Walter and Patricia Wachowski at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

She graduated from Swartz Creek High School and furthered her education with a nursing degree from Mott Community College in Flint, MI.

On September 4, 1999 Pattie married the love of her life, Doug Wilkinson.

She had a unique passion for life, her compassion for others shown brightly in her care for her patients as an ICU nurse at McLaren Hospital in Flint and continuing at Marquette General. She loved to mentor new or student nurses, being honored to be asked to speak by the students at an NMU graduation.

Pattie had a love for her family that was unsurpassed, with a very special love for her many grandchildren. She also had a love for animals of all kinds. She especially took pleasure in the myriad of deer that came in the yard, the chipmunks and her two cats.

Her sense of humor and propensity to find herself in humorous mishaps are fondly remembered by her family.

Pattie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Doug Wilkinson; children, Tim Sutherby, Robynn (Rick) Reid, Kevin (Amy) Wilkinson, Susan (Joe) D’Angelo, Karin (Bryan) Beaman; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank UP Home Health & Hospice nurses, Karen, Kathy and Marie for their loving care and compassion during this difficult time. Also, many thanks to Pattie’s wonderful friends and neighbors for all of their kindness and help over the last couple of months.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 12 Noon at the Canale – Gwinn Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Plocher officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
