David Hamari

MARQUETTE, MI – David Armas Hamari, age 67, of Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, September 8, 2018, at his home.

Born September 13, 1950, in Marquette, son of Armas and Marjorie (Lofaro) Hamari, David was raised in Marquette and was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School, Class of 1968, having just celebrated their 50th reunion. He later graduated from Northern Michigan University and was employed by the State of Michigan as a social worker. David was an accomplished writer and had been published in various newspapers. He was an avid fisherman and proudly wore his master fisherman patch. He spent some time in New York City and, when time permitted, loved to travel to Spain, Vancouver, Montreal, and various top secret (and unrevealed) fishing spots. He was known for being very generous with gifts of lottery tickets to family and friends.

He will be remembered for that generous nature and gentle spirit.

David is survived by his siblings, Dale (Chris) Hamari of Marquette, Dan (Janis) Hamari of Three Lakes, Darryl (Vicki) Hamari of Marquette, Jackie (Ed) Tresedder of Negaunee, Kurt (Karri) Hamari of Marquette, Mark (Theresa) Hamari of Marquette, and Kortney Schaaf of Seattle, WA; and close friend and companion, Tammie Chrisman of Marquette and her daughter, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armas and Marjorie Hamari and step-mother, Doris Hamari.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Thursday, September 13, beginning at 4:00 pm until the time of service at 5:30 pm. Rev. Greg Heikkala will officiate. A reception will follow in the reception room located at the funeral home.

Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
