Athena M. Michaud

Athena was born April 5, 1977 in Ishpeming to William and Yvonne (Smith) Nelson. She graduated from Westwood High School, class of 1995 and received her nursing degree from Northern Michigan University. Athena worked as an LPN in Iron County at the Iron County Jail and Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

Athena was an avid reader and was always willing to learn. She enjoyed crafts, writing, photography and nature hikes. She had a love for music, her pet dogs and cats and enjoyed dancing. Most of all she will be missed by her family, especially her 3 children.

Athena is survived by 3 children: Taryn Johnson of Marquette, Benjamin Johnson of Ishpeming and Holly Rogers of Negaunee, her parents: Bill and Yvonne Nelson of Ishpeming Twp, a sister Heather Arseneau of Ishpeming, 2 nephews: Aydin and Jayce Arseneau along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Michaud.

Athena’s family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon -2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with Fr. Ryan Ford to officiate.
