Lorraine T. Perry

MICHIGAMME, MI – Lorraine T. Perry, age 92, longtime Michigamme resident passed away Saturday August 18, 2018 at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of her family.

Lorraine was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on March 2, 1926 to the late Linneaus and Rena (Brasseaux) Rodrigue. She met her husband Jesse F. Perry in Louisiana while he was serving our country and moved to Michigamme with him where they enjoyed their life together.

Lorraine worked at Mt. Shasta for over 40 years, where she assisted in the kitchen. She loved knitting, always making mittens, scarfs, and afghans for family members and friends. Lorraine was a fantastic cook, especially known for her excellent southern cooking. She enjoyed having everybody over and cooking for her family every Sunday. Lorraine also loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by 3 children: Linda Boback of Covington, MI, Jesse (Rose) Perry of Ishpeming, David (Beth) Perry of Mendon, MA, 8 grandchildren: Connie (Steve) Schultz, Becky Boback, Rachel (Brad) Marta, Melissa (Cory) Goldsworthy, Jesse (Chelsea) Perry, Annie (Jake) Skewis, Dana Perry, Emily Perry, 13 great grandchildren: Nikki, Cole, and Victoria Schultz, Tammy Boback, Megan and Ethan Marta, Brody and Ben Goldsworthy, Ryan and Aubrey Perry, Faith, Lena, and Eric Skewis along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse F. Perry in 2001, 5 siblings: David A. Rodrigue, Vivian M. Pinion, Ruth E. Rodrigue, Dorothy A. Sumrall, Lynn E. Rodrigue, and a great granddaughter: Mia Rose Skewis.

Lorraine’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Woodland United Methodist Church, Michigamme, MI on Thursday August 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Pete Lemoine officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Michigamme EMS group.
