From 1975 until 1985, Don was employed with Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company at the Empire Mine as an assistant plant operator, retiring due to ill health. Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and spending time at the family camp at Charley Lakes. He loved trips to the casino with his wife, Pauline, and enjoyed a good cup of coffee with his family and friends. A devoted Detroit sports fan, Don enjoyed following and cheering for the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. Don was a member of the Sons of the American Legion through Little Lake American Legion Post 349.
