Darlene Ann McVannel
CHESTERFIELD TWP., MI – Longtime resident of National Mine, passed away at Martha T. Berry medical facility on May 24, 2018. Darlene was born August 26, 1932 to Clara and Elmer Grondin. Beloved wife of the late John McVannel Sr., caring mother of Lana (Michael) Derocha Champion, MI, Lynn (Fred) Cox Ishpeming, MI, John McVannel Chesterfield, MI, Daniel (Lori) McVannel Florence, WI, Duane (Tina) McVannel King, N. Carolina. Cherished grandmother of 11; Tanya (Tony) Pihaylic, Brian (Angela) Bartle, Eric (Amber) Bartle, Amy (Michael) Moore, Kevin Cox, Cory McVannel, Destiny McVannel, Allyn McVannel, Mallory McVannel, Jasmine Kelley, Brandon Kelley. Great grandmother of 16 and great great grandmother of 2.
She was preceded in death by her son Ed Kelley.
Darlene worked for Fisher Chevrolet in Ishpeming and was Tilden township’s clerk while raising her children in National Mine. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and donating her time in church functions. Moving to Chesterfield in 1989 to reside and worked for Erb Lumber Company until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Alter Society.
She will be laid to rest in Ishpeming Cemetary along side her husband John.
