TILDEN TWP, MI – Elizabeth M. “Betsy” Lawer, age 66 of 955 Co. Rd. PPV Ishpeming (Tilden Twp) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at UP Health System Marquette where she had been a patient for the past month.

Betsy was born April 13, 1952 in Ishpeming to the late Roy and Helen (Stone) Dymond. She graduated from National Mine High School, class of 1970. Betsy worked as a cashier at the 581 Cash store in Green Creek for almost 20 years before retiring to spend more time with family and friends doing the things she loved.

Betsy’s joy in life were her three grandchildren. She especially loved spending time with them and attending their various sporting events and school activities. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and more recently took great pleasure in watching numerous family members play.

She was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

She enjoyed camping, having game nights with her card clubs, and playing BINGO. Each year she looked forward to Christmas time so she could decorate her home and display all the ornaments she loved to collect. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and the Negaunee Eagles.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Terry Lawer, whom she married on March 18, 1978, 2 daughters: April Lawer and Holly (Jeremy) Letson, 3 grandchildren: Hunter and Bailey Peterson and Olivia Letson, 2 sisters: Ruth (David) Cox and Judy (Terry) Morcom, a brother: Roy Dymond all of Ishpeming, a sister-in-law: Jean Eddy of Stuart, FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen Dymond, and grandparents, including her grandmother Elizabeth Stone.

Betsy’s family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon-2:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 581 south of Ishpeming where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Doug Norquist officiating.

A potluck luncheon will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall.
