DAYTON, OH – Daniel A. Walther, 93, of Dayton, Ohio, died on May 26, 2018 in Naples, Florida.

Born on March 22, 1925, to George Walther, Sr. and Katie Nicholas Walther, Daniel was the ninth of twelve children born to George and Katie.

Daniel is predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline (Walkup) Walther, also of Dayton, and survived by their 3 children, Constance Wilcheck (Michael), D. Christopher Walther (Bonney), Cynthia Walther Perry; 11 grandchildren, Angel (Wilcheck) Shearer, Michael Wilcheck. Jr., Terrence Wilcheck, Danielle (Wilcheck) Click, Casey (Wilcheck) Wood, Andrea Jo Wilcheck, Daniel Alexander Walther, Kiersten (Walther) Ricci, Claire (Walther) Deal, Jason Perry, and Justin Perry; and 25 great-grandchildren. Daniel is also survived by his loving wife, Sharon Allen Walther, and her 2 sons, William James Massey, IV and Thomas Allen Massey. He is additionally survived by two brothers, William Dean Walther, Frederick Stephen Walther, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel retired in 1987, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dayton Walther Corporation, a leading mechanical parts supplier to the United States transportation industry and beyond. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana. Early in his career at Dayton Walter, Daniel lead research and development teams, and held several industry patents. Later, Daniel directed manufacturing operations in multiple plants across Dayton Walther Corporation, commuting between locations as a commercial and instrument-rated pilot.

In addition to career achievements, Daniel will be remembered, above all, for his lifelong love of God and family. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Naples, Florida for close to three decades, where he served as Head Elder and President of the Congregation.

He will be deeply missed by all Congregation members, and by many other individuals, whose lives he profoundly touched.

In honor of Daniel A. Walther, memorial services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Naples Florida, at a later date.
