Curtis James Vandenboom

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI – Curtis James Vandenboom passed away on March 27, 2018 at MGH Hospice.

Curtis was born Dec. 15, 1944, third son of Frank H. Vandenboom and Gertrude (Libby) Vandenboom Kobin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Curt is survived by his brothers; Kaye (Judy) and Dan (Gayle) and many nieces and nephews.

Curtis graduated from Graveraet High School in 1962 and NMU in 1966. After graduation, Curt taught school at Manistique MI., for many years.

Curtis was very active in sports, playing baseball and basketball in school and city leagues. He had received an invitation to the Detroit Tigers Spring tryouts, but was too young to accept.

After retiring from teaching, Curt bought the 3rd Base Bar and ran it for many years.

Curt loved hunting, fishing, camp life and casinos, making many friends throughout the community.

Cremation has taken place and his remains will be buried at West Branch Cemetery on Saturday, June 2nd, at Gary Cooper Time (high noon).
