Bartlett J. ‘Bart’ Bourque

MARQUETTE, MI – Bartlett J. “Bart” Bourque, 96, of Marquette, passed away Monday afternoon, May 7, 2018 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans where he had been a resident a short while.

Bart was born on January 24 1922 in Marquette, a son of the late Frank and Eva (Beaupre) Bourque and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a 1940 graduate of Graveraet High School.

Bart purchased Lemon’s Studio in 1949 where he was very involved in all aspects of photography until 1975, when he retired and sold the business. After retirement, he worked as a deputy/bailiff for Marquette County Circuit Court for 10 years. In his free time, Bart enjoyed golfing, being a member of the Marquette Golf Club at various times for over 50 years. He was also a private pilot and accomplished woodworker, having constructed fine furniture.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Tonkin and Jayne (Jim) Zorza, both of Marquette; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Michael) Marietta of Marquette and Jill Zorza and her fiance, Preston Maki, of Green Bay, WI; also three great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann in 2006 and an infant son, Stephen Bourque.

A celebration of Bart’s life will take place on Thursday, May 10th beginning at 1 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Connie Tonkin, 8 Specker Circle, Marquette.
