Robert W. Jancsi

GWINN, MI – Robert “Bob” W. Jancsi, 80, of Gwinn, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2018, at his home, with his family by his side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.

He was born April 3, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio a son of the late William and Betty (Komlosy) Jancsi and was raised there.

Bob first came to the Gwinn area by accident in 1956, looking for a place to deer hunt. He had met Mavis Ketola then and the couple married at Grace Lutheran Church on July 27, 1963.

He worked as a miner for CCI, a key punch operator at NMU and at the Marquette County Road Commission before taking a position as bus driver for the Gwinn Schools before retiring on April 30, 2000.

Bob was a life member of the NRA. His interests included hunting, fishing, shooting and hiking.

“The only one’s happy Bob is gone are the porcupines.”

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mavis Jancsi of Gwinn; children, Pamela (John) Struckel of Colorado Springs, CO, Eric (Lori) Jancsi of Gwinn and Jason Jancsi of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Sydney and Ian Struckel, Taylor and Tristan Jancsi; siblings, Richard Jancsi, Roger Jancsi, Christine (Rich) D’Amore, Suzy Thomlinson and Valerie Jancsi, all of Cleveland, OH; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm at Grace Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm in the church with Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating.
