ISHPEMING, MI – Richard “Richie” Giotto, age 77, of Ishpeming, entered eternal life unexpectedly on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his home.

Richie was born on September 28, 1940 in Ishpeming, to Joseph and Irene (Gishia) Giotto. He was raised in North Lake and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School class of 1958. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country. After service to his country he was honorably discharged and he returned to Ishpeming area starting his career as a Miner for Cleveland Cliffs. Richie worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1995.

In his spare time he loved to play cribbage and was a member of Ishpeming Cribbage League. He was a long time member of Wawonowin Golf Club. Richie was an avid hunter and loved the time spent at his camp in the Wolf Lake Area. For many years Richie and his wife Carole loved wintering in Florida.

Survivors include his a daughter Debbie (Steve) Nault of Ishpeming, a son Michael (fiancee Angela O’Brien) Giotto of Mt Juliet, TN; his sister, JoAnn Albertson of Ishpeming; his brother, Joseph (Shari) Giotto of North Lake; grandchildren, Jenna (Lee) Warlin, Emily (Tony) Walker, Kaylee (Eric) Major, Stacey (Craig) Neimi, Stephanie Nault, Jacob & Emma O’Brien, great grandchildren, Nora Carole Walker, Makayla, Anna, Taylor, Noah, Faith, Allie and Ben along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carole on June 10, 2015.

Friends may call at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 4:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 4 p.m. with Rev. Lauri Maki officiating. A luncheon will be held across the street in the Bethel Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
