Donald L. Kero

NEGAUNEE, MI – Donald L. Kero, age 89 longtime Negaunee resident passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center in Menasha, WI.

Don was born March 21, 1928 in Negaunee to Matt and Jennie (Miller) Kero. He graduated from Negaunee High School, class of 1945 and received his civil engineering degree from Michigan Tech in 1958. Don worked 26 years for the State of Michigan with M-DOT.

Don was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church of Negaunee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good cup of black coffee.

Don is survived by a son Paul (Valerie) Kero of Neenah,WI, a brother Ted (Shirley) Kero of Negaunee, grandchildren: Olivia (Jose) DeLeon, Sophia Kero, Megan Sebo and Luke Sebo, nieces and nephews: David (Liz) Kero, Julie (Brian) Hintsala, Valerie (Bob) Hintsala, Heidi (Tom) Johnson, and Peter (Miriam) Kero along with a host of brothers and sisters in faith.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Jennie, a sister Marjorie Hansen and a brother Rudolph Kero.

Don’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am-noon on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee where funeral services will be held at noon with Dan Hintsala officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
