Betty Marie Truscott

MARQUETTE TWP, MI – Betty Marie Truscott, age 85, of Marquette Township, entered eternal life Thursday evening, January 25, 2018, at UP Health System-Marquette, in the loving, comforting care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Betty was born in Marquette on October 16, 1932, the daughter of Nelson and Mary (Cook) Mallette. She was raised in South Marquette and attended Graveraet High School. Throughout the years, Betty was employed as a nurses’ aide with various health care providers. She began with employment at the former Morgan Heights Sanatorium. In 1952, she met William “Willie” Truscott, and on December 27, 1953, the couple was married. Throughout their marriage, Betty was employed at various times with Bell Memorial Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and, in 1972, with Norlite Nursing Center, while also being a wife, mother, and homemaker. For ten years, Betty did adult foster care in her home. She retired in 1991. Known as being a hard worker and committed to the tasks at hand, Betty was basically a family oriented person. She lovingly cared for her family, was talented in the kitchen with her cooking and baking skills, which she passed on to her children, and was content spending time at home with family. She and Willie occasionally visited the casino and, in the 60’s and 70’s, Betty enjoyed leisure moments playing BINGO.

Betty is survived by her husband, William “Willie” Truscott of Marquette; her children, Alice (Gregg) Beauchamp of Winnemucka, NV, Timothy (Micki) Truscott of Marquette, and Dianna Truscott of Marquette; her grandchildren, Tammy (Bill) Oliver, Robert Remington, Whitney (Keegan David) Truscott, Cami (Ben) Truscott, John Truscott, Chelsea Schwemin, Megan Schwemin; great-grandchildren, Gregory Harding, Elijah Ford, Rorrick Horvath, and Zandyn Schwemin; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Honoring Betty’s request, no services will be scheduled. Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dani and the staff of UP Home Health and Hospice for the professional and compassionate care Betty received and for the many kindnesses extended to the family.
