Rebecca Elaine ‘Becky’ (Belanger) Treado


MARQUETTE, MI – Rebecca Elaine “Becky” (Belanger) Treado, age 60, of Marquette, walked on into eternal life Saturday morning, December 23, 2017, at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace, due to a brain aneurysm.

Born May 28, 1957, in Superior Township, Wisconsin, a daughter of Louis and Eunice (Pratt) Belanger, Becky was raised in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, and graduated from Bayfield High School, Class of 1975. She enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, receiving her Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy in 1980. She relocated to Marquette and began her career in physical therapy at Marquette General Hospital where she was employed for ten years. She then was employed at the D.J. Jacobetti Center and finally with the Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency (MARESA), until her retirement this past October. Becky was a very passionate physical therapist who loved working with babies and children, and was a mentor to many. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Raspberry Bay in Bayfield County, Wisconsin. She was a member of the Michigan Chapter of the Physical Therapy Association, and a member of the Marquette Women’s Volleyball League where she enjoyed the competitiveness of the sport. Becky was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Timothy Jacques Treado of Marquette, whom she married May 5, 1984; her two children, Matthew Louis (Audrey) Treado of Marquette and Christopher Jacques Treado of Lansing; a grandson, Maxwell Lewis Treado of Marquette; her sister, Bonnie Belanger Livingston of Raspberry Bay, WI; three brothers, Gregory (Lisa Ekhlom) Belanger, Kenneth (Marne) Belanger, and Douglas (Cyndi) Belanger all of Washburn, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; and a great nephew, Kingston Scheer.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the Bishop’s Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Thursday, December 28, beginning at 10:00 am Michigan time (9:00 am Wisconsin time). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Michigan time (10:00 am Wisconsin time) Thursday in St. Peter Cathedral with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in Cathedral Hall.

Burial will take place at the Belanger Settlement Cemetery in Bayfield County, Wisconsin on Friday, December 29 at 1:00 pm Wisconsin Time (2:00 pm Michigan time).
