Laura L. Gagnon

MARQUETTE, MI – Laura L. Gagnon, age 103, of Marquette, formerly of Negaunee, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family early Tuesday morning, December 19, 2017.

Laura was born September 30, 1914 in Marquette to Joseph and Anne (Vingoe) Beauprey and was a graduate of Graveraet High School, Class of 1932. She married the late Edward J. Gagnon, Sr. on December 31, 1936 in Marquette and together they raised five children in Negaunee. Laura was a devoted and loving homemaker.

Mrs. Gagnon was a longtime devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she loved and cherished time spent with her family.

Surviving are her two sons, Edward J. Gagnon, Sr. of Marquette and Keith (Sharon) Gagnon of Howell; her three daughters: Rosanne (Lowell) Fleury of Onaway, Mary Lou (Gary) Maki of Green Bay and Patricia Gagnon of Marquette; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, in 1999; an infant daughter, Nancy, in 1938; a granddaughter, Kathleen Hogan, in 2006; two brothers, Joseph and Clifford Beauprey; and her daughter-in-law, Betty Gagnon, in 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 27th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday, and also at a luncheon in the St. Paul Gymnasium following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Catholic Church in Laura’s memory.
