Joseph James Prisk

MARQUETTE, MI – Joseph J. “Joe” Prisk, age 79, of Marquette, entered eternal life Monday, December 25, 2017, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, in the care of his family and caregivers of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Born March 11, 1938, in Ishpeming, a son of Joseph and Katherine Prisk, Joe was raised in Negaunee where he attended St. Paul School. In March of 1955, Joe entered the US Navy, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in March 1959 and began working construction in Newport, Rhode Island. He met his future wife, Barbara, and following their marriage the couple relocated to California where he worked construction in the oil refineries. He later moved back to Negaunee, working for MarqTran as a bus driver for ten years. Joe was an avid reader and enthusiastic Boston Red Sox fan.

Survivors include his three children, Joseph, Barry and Bambi; his brother, Gerald (Carol) Prisk of Negaunee; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and three brothers, Stanley, Michael, and Dennis Prisk.

Honoring Joe’s request, no public services will be held.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans for their compassionate, professional care of Joe and the many kindnesses extended to his family.
