Harley Clickner

ISHPEMING, MI – Harley “Bud” E. Clickner, age 88, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 while in the loving care of his sons, staff at the Teal Lake Senior Living Community in Negaunee where he had been residing and the UP Home Health and Hospice.

Harley was born July 23, 1929 in Mauston, WI the son of the late Jesse and Frances (Svoboda) Clickner. He was a graduate of the Mauston High School, Class of 1947. Harley furthered his education at the Wisconsin Institute of Technology (now UW – Platteville) where he received his bachelor degree in Mining Engineering. He served in the United States Army being stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Harley worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for over 30 years as a Mining Engineer at several area mines starting in the underground mines and then to open pit mining at the Humboldt, Republic and retired from the Tilden Mine in 1984.

Harley was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gun collecting. He was a member of the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club. He also loved sports, which included watching local high school sports, notably the Ishpeming Hematites and later the Negaunee Miners following his grandchildren. He also followed the UW Badgers, Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. When sitting down with family, you could always count on a game of Pinochle.

Survivors include sons: Glen (Gloria) Clickner of Fitchburg, WI and Kurt (Amy) Clickner of Negaunee, 4 grand- children: Craig (Carolyn) Clickner, Lauren (Kyle) Wilz, Jocelyn Clickner and Courtney Clickner, 2 great grandchildren: Elouise and Augusten Clickner, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anita (Benson) Clickner in 1991, and 3 sisters.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:30 – 4:30PM on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4:30PM on Saturday at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services at the Trinity Lutheran Church Hall.
