Florence (Kostrova) Mikkola

Florence was born October 12, 1915 in Pound, WI the daughter of the late William and Molly (Tachic) Gretzon. Florence grew up on the family farm in Pound, WI attending to many of the needs which came with operating a family farm. She first married Albert A. Kostrova and together they raised 3 daughters – Marilyn, Violet and Deloris. Albert preceded Florence in death in 1970. She remarried Emil Mikkola in 1972 and he also preceded her in death in 1994.

Florence was a longtime member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Champion. She enjoyed her flower gardens, reading, going for rides which included long Sunday trips along with making cookies and patchwork quilts for family and friends. Florence will be remembered for always being optimistic on life and never wanting for anything, she had a beautiful warm smile that greeted everyone and was loved by all.

Survivors include 3 daughters – Violet Krummi and Deloris Bentti both of Michigamme and Marilyn (Stuart) Laitinen of Champion, brother Marvin Gretzon of Pound, WI, 9 grandchildren- Gary (Lisa) Laitinen, Lynn (Dennis) Kloss, Donald (Janice) Krummi, Georgia (Al) Martin, Ronald (Micki) Krummi, Denise (Cliff) Latimer, Terri (Stan) Starr, Dennis (Judy) Bentti, Joanne Bentti, along with 21 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 1st and 2nd husbands, 2 brothers – Walter and John Gretzon, sons-in-law – George Krummi and Emil Bentti and great grandchildren – Shaun and Brent Krummi.

Private funeral services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Kaiser officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at the First Baptist Cemetery in Pound, WI.
