ISHPEMING, MI – Randolph O. Anderson, age 88 of 2111 Prairie Ave, Ishpeming passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of family, staff at MCMCF and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Randolph was born November 23, 1928 in Ishpeming to Hilmer and Hilda (Fosmoe) Anderson. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1948. Randy was drafted in to the Army in January 1951. He went to Camp Polk Louisiana for training, then to Japan on the Island of Hokkaido, left Japan for Korea and landed there in December. Served as a squad leader in Company G of the 179th Combat Team. He was honorably discharged from the Army October 9, 1952. Randy was awarded the Army Occupation Medal, Medal for Service in Japan, Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon and Combat Infantryman Badge. He married Joanne Marie Rice on November 22 after his discharge.

Randy was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he served an an usher. He enjoyed playing cribbage, cutting firewood, collecting knick knacks, gardening and had a love for animals, especially his many pets over the years.

Randy is survived by 3 daughters: June (Dave) Gilbert of Iron Mountain, MI, Peggy Anderson and Connie (Steve) Gaboury both of Ishpeming, 6 grandchildren: Nicole (Kevin) Bracken, Krista Shiner, Jeremy Shiner, Melissa (Jason) Thill, Casey Anderson, and Jessica (Paul) Raihala, a sister in law Alice Ward along with cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Joanne.

Randy’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
