Mary Jane Kidder

MARQUETTE, MI – Mary Jane Kidder, 82, formerly of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, died peacefully Sunday evening, November 12, 2017 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Memory Care while under the loving care of her daughter and Brookridge staff.

Mary Jane was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 23, 1935, a daughter of the late Euphis and Solita (Trahan) Goulas. She was a long time resident of Whitmore Lake, Michigan. A member of Wesley United Methodist Church for years, she volunteered for a variety of church activities and events.

Mary Jane was a secretary for the State of Michigan, W.J. Maxey Boys Training School. After retirement, she continued her volunteer spirit by delivering for the Meals on Wheels program.

She enjoyed family time, bowling, dancing, spending time with special friends, and traveling, especially returning to her Louisiana roots. Always a Cajun at heart, Mary Jane prepared tasty Cajun dishes enjoyed and loved by her Michigan family and friends. Her door was always open for those in need.

Survivors include four children, Daniel (Bobette Friend) Kidder of Gaylord, Elizabeth (William) Sanderson of Marquette, Tony (Connie) Kidder of Ann Arbor, and Mark (Cheryl Cornett) Kidder of Whitmore Lake; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Terri, Travis, Brandon, Kyle, Emily, and Joshua; seven great grandchildren; four siblings, Donald Goulas of Louisiana, Charles (Tonnet) Goulas of California, Gloria “Sue” Lanerie and Brenda Bonin, both of Louisiana; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents were two siblings, Helen Trahan and Raymond Goulas; also a grandson, Nicholas Jensen.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, November 20th from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Wesley United Methodist Church in Whitmore Lake, MI. A funeral service will be conducted in the church at 12 noon with the Rev. Fred Hatfield officiating. Burial will take place at Washtenong Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
