George E. Maule Jr.

ROCK, MI – George Earl Maule Jr. left this life on November 17, 2017 at the age of 79.

George was born on May 14, 1938 to George and Edna (Johnson) Maule in Farmington Hills, MI. He spent his early life in Farmington Hills, MI before the family moved to Wyandotte, MI when George was in his teens. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte and went on to enlist in the Army, where he served for four years.

After his enlistment he returned back to Michigan, where he met his first wife, Mary Rosen, on a double date. They were married in November of 1961 and moved to Angola, IN where George majored in business, graduating in 1965. Their first daughter, Laura, was born in Angola, IN.

Following graduation, George moved with his family to Cleveland, OH for his first job. While living in Cleveland, their son, Samuel, was born in 1966. George and his family returned to Michigan in 1967 when George began an apprenticeship as an Ironworker with Local 25. George resided in the Detroit-Metro area until 1995, following the death of his wife Mary. During that time George achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the Army Reserves and was active as a Mason (serving as Worshipful Grand Master).

George moved to Rock, MI in 1995 and became an active member of the community. He was active in the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, the Gladstone Masonic Order, Rock American Legion Post #559, and as a Shriner to mention a few. He met his second wife, Karen Seppanen, in 1998 and they were married on July 10, 1999.

George always had a deep love for the woods, hunting, and fishing. He also could be a bit of a daredevil on the snowmobile. A favorite activity he acquired after meeting Karen was cross country skiing, and it became a favorite activity for both of them. He loved traveling and introducing others to new places and always had knowledge of odd bits of history.
