Carol L. Stockholm

GLADSTONE, MI – Carol L. Stockholm, age 100, formerly of Gladstone, passed away Friday evening, November 17, 2017 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care in Marquette.

She was born on December 1, 1916 in South Acton, MA, the daughter of William and Vinnie (Olmstead) Crosby. Carol grew up in South Acton and graduated from Acton High School in 1934. The former Carol Crosby married Harold V. Stockholm on November 19, 1942 in Buffalo, NY and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1989. Together, the couple shared 47 years of marriage and raised one son and one daughter. Carol was very active in the Home Extension Club. She enjoyed being a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. Carol loved being a mother and grandmother and her family meant the world to her.

Carol L. Stockholm is survived by daughter, Christine (David) Wiik of Negaunee, MI; two granddaughters, Rebecca (Luigi) Torretti of Namur, Quebec, Canada and Melinda Sager of Marquette, MI; three great-grandchildren, Annunzio, Giancarlo and Lidia Torretti and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by son, Dwight on May 16, 1967; sister, Mabel McKelvie; and brother, John Crosby.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Carol will be held in the Summer of 2018. Burial will take place in Fernwood Cemetery.
