L’ANSE, MI – Katherine Lucille Lanctot, formerly of L’Anse, MI passed away peacefully in her sleep, at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, ND October 20th.

She was born in Baltic, MI daughter of Paul and Lucille (Rauh) Maurin. Kay graduated from Painesdale High School. She then went on to get her degree from Suomi College. She married David C. Lanctot on November 19, 1955 in South Range, MI.

Kay was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of L’Anse. She loved to play the piano. She was known for her Blue-Ribbon Thimble Berry Jam, baking beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. She was active in the horse shoe, bowling, and golf leagues.

She and her husband Dave were very active in the Knights of Columbus, loved camping, gardening and growing amazing flowers and vegetables in their greenhouse. They wintered for 25 years in McAllen TX.

Surviving are her children, David (Dottie) of Trenton, IL, Gerard (Cynthia) of Las Vegas, NV, Michael of Minot, ND, Katherine Lanctot of Marquette MI; seven grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Matthew, Jason, Melissa, Tory and Levi; and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband David; siblings, Pete (Jean) Maurin, Frances (Omar) VanGorp, Joseph Maurin, and Mary Maurin.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 24th from 5-7 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home with parish prayers being recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MI.
