Barbara A. Herman

NEGAUNEE, MI – Barbara Anne Herman, 65, of Croix St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 10, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Barbara was born April 30, 1951 in Ishpeming to Robert P. and Shirley J. (Dobbs) Johnson, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of ’69, and then continued her education at Northern Michigan University, earning an Associate’s Degree in Health and Nutrition in ’72. She married David A. Herman on July 15, 1972 and together they raised their 2 children in Ishpeming. Barb worked as a clerk for Jim’s IGA and was also a devoted homemaker.

Mrs. Herman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and attending her grandchildren’s, nieces and nephews many athletic events.

Most importantly, Barbara loved time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Barbara was a very loving and caring person who was always willing to help anybody in need.

Surviving are her loving husband of 44 yrs., David A. Herman of Negaunee; daughter, Christy Herman of Negaunee; son, Jeremy Herman of Ishpeming; 7 grandchildren: Marshall Nothelfer, Madison, Carter and Leah McCracken and Jackson, Julien and Jenna Herman; 4 sisters: Paulette (Dean) Patron of Negaunee Township, Sandra Etelamaki of Negaunee Township, Donna Johnson of Corunna, MI and Chris Johnson of Negaunee; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday, March 16th at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Solberg officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00pm until the time of services at 4:00pm at the funeral home on Thursday, and also at a dinner reception at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Barbara’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033.
