Dorothy (DeLorensi) Truckey

ISHPEMING, MI. – Dorothy Truckey, 89, passed away on July 18, 2015 at the Mather Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born July 8, 1926 in Ishpeming to Louis and Clara (LaForest) DeLorensi, graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1943, and worked for many years as a nurses’ aide at Bell Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1988. Dorothy enjoyed attending family events and loved to sing and play games with her grandchildren. An avid reader, she read several books a week most of her life. She enjoyed making Italian meals for her family; specializing in coyettes, capous, meatballs, and handmade ravioli.

She is survived by her sister, Gloria (Lee Holm) of Marquette; sister-in-law, Mary Lou; son Robert L. (Carol) of Ishpeming, daughter, Tina (Don) Morrison of Sewickely, PA. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren: John (Wendi, Haley, Tyler) Thomas of Negaunee, Wendy (Bill, Katie (Kaiya), Toni) Gravedoni of Ishpeming, Patty (Kevin, Becky) Mattord of Ishpeming, Craig (Janel, Ian, Colin) Morrison of Sewickley, PA and Lisa (Matt, Teagan, Morgan) Martin of Sewickley, PA. Brother-in-law George (Sue) of Duluth, MN, sistersin-law: Mary (Bob) Apple of Marquette, Barbara of St. Johns, MI, Maryrene Truckey of Munising, Ruth Truckey of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 70 years, Robert ‘Bob’ Truckey; her daughter, Betty Truckey; father-and mother-in-law, Willard and Siiri Truckey; her brothers: Francis DeLorensi and Lloyd (Puttoe) DeLorensi; sister-in-law, Patricia (Tom) Wiseman; brothers-in-law: Bill and Jack; and granddaughter, Renee Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, July 22nd at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee with Rev. Greg Heikkala officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until the time of services at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, and also at a luncheon at the Negaunee Elks immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mather Nursing Center Activity Fund in Dorothy’s memory.
