Course on France to be offered

MARQUETTE — Professor Roger Magnuson along with Professor Beverly Matherne will teach a six-week course entitled “France Dissected: Its People, Customs, and Institutions” in the Peter White Public Library’s Lions Room beginning on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Professor Magnuson holds a Ph.D. in history and philosophy of education from the University of Michigan. Now retired, he was a professor of education at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where he taught for more than 30 years.

Professor Matherne holds a BA and MA in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a PHD in drama from Saint Louis University. Now retired, she was an English professor at Northern Michigan University and is the is the author of 6 bilingual books (English/French) of free verse, prose poetry, lyrical stories, and blues poems.

The class meets weekly on Thursdays from 6:30- 8 p.m. and runs through from Sept. 6 to Oct.11. The class is open to the public at no charge and no registration is required.
