WHS students compete in national conference

Thirteen WHS students recently returned from the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, where they competed along with 5,500 other delegates from around the nation in business-related contests. Jacob Adriano, Katelyn Anttila, Claire Gilles, Aili Harmon, Meg Harmon, Heidi Hinkens, Trent Holmgren, Hunter LeClair, Avery Mariuzza, Amanda Matznick, Makenzie Rajala, AJ Suardini and Brock Sundberg all qualified at the state competition in March to compete at the NLC. They were accompanied by their advisors, Ronalyn Arseneau and Sabina Villar. In addition to having the opportunity to compete on the national stage and learn from leading business professionals, students had the opportunity to experience Anaheim, California, and the surrounding areas. BPA’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. Four WHS students returned as national award winners, earning a total of eight national awards, including two national championships. National award winners are: Aili Harmon, 1st place, SQL Database Fundamentals, 1st place, Financial Math & Analysis, 3rd place, Integrated Office Applications, 6th place, Administrative Support Concepts, 8th place, Management/Marketing/Human Resources Concepts; Makenzie Rajala, 2nd place, Legal Office Procedures; Avery Mariuzza, 3rd place, Basic Office Systems & Procedures; and Hunter LeClair, 6th place, Fundamental Word Processing.
