SHF aids Lake Superior Hospice and Life Care

The Superior Health Foundation awarded Lake Superior Hospice and Life Care in Marquette a check for $11,419 to support an in-home respite care program for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The funding, which came out of an Alzheimer’s fund held by the Superior Health Foundation, will provide an average of 10 hours a week of in-home respite care. Existing Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice dementia-trained, adult day services care aides or hospice care aides will provide the in-home care. The funding also paid for the printing of program brochures and a portable PA system for use at Adult Day Services. “We’re pleased to support Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice with this funding,” said Jim LaJoie, executive director of the Superior Health Foundation. “In-home respite care is a vital, much-needed service that benefits many caregivers and loved ones.” Pictured from left are Sue Rutkowski, CEO, Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice; Tonya Pontel, LPN, Adult Day Services co-coordinato; and LaJoie.
