Bay College in Escanaba was the site of the 2019 Business Professionals of America Regional Leadership Conference on Jan. 4. Hundreds of students from across the Upper Peninsula gathered to compete in contests relating to finance, business administration, management/marketing/communications, information technology, and digital technology skills. Westwood High School student members, along with teachers Ronalyn Arseneau and Sabina Villar, participated in this regional competition, with 31 Westwood students earning first through fourth place awards, which qualified them to move on to state competition. These students will represent Westwood High School at the 2019 BPA State Leadership Conference from March 13-17 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, where they will compete with students from across Michigan, attend workshops designed to aid in professional development, and gain valuable skills. Top students at the state conference will advance to the National Leadership Conference to be held in Anaheim, California, in May.
