The Lions Club motto, “We Serve” was put into action again this year by the Marquette Club. At their 2016-2017 fiscal year end, the Marquette Lions had donated $14,110 to area projects benefitting over 3,000 local residents. The club pancake breakfast earned over $2,700 for the Warming Center and Room at the Inn programs. Another $575 in goods were donated to the homeless shelter and feeding program. Leader Dogs for the Blind was the beneficiary of $2,800 from the club-sponsored kickball tournament. More than $1,600 was awarded to students in the form of scholarships and every third grader in Marquette and Marquette Township schools received his/her own dictionary, courtesy of the Marquette Lions.
