Committee begins beautification project

On June 6, the Beautification Committee of Ishpeming launched their program to beautify several areas in and around downtown Ishpeming. The beautification project encourages community members of Ishpeming to beautify their homes and to take pride in their community. Community beautification is important because it states a clear fact: someone cares about this place. A pleasant community appearance adds to home values, helps attract business investments, and can improve a city’s reputation. The various landscapes and gardens through the city includes: Lake Bancroft landscape (located off Lakeshore Drive), the large raised bed at the corner of Lakeshore and Euclid in Lake Bancroft Park, the sign garden, the flagpole garden, and the gazebo garden at Lake Bancroft, also three individual raised bed gardens at Lake Bancroft; the city hall arrangement located on Division Street; all the individual beds on Lakeshore Drive; Old Ish Garden located on Main Street; the garden on Hematite Drive; the two corner beds on Hematite and Second Street by the Post Office (including opposite corner); The bed at the corner of Third Street and Hematite Drive; and the parking lot garden on First Street and Cleveland Avenue. If you have any questions, please the Chair of the Beautification Committee, Linda at 906-486-4422.
