Brazier, Short recognized as Paul Harris Fellows

Two local residents were recently recognized as Paul Harris Fellows by the Marquette Rotary Club through member Pryse Duerfeld. Included were Bill Brazier and Dr. William Short. Brazier, a teacher, has been involved for many years with the Marquette Sister City program with Higashiomi, Japan. His service as a planner, delegate and delegation leader has contributed greatly to the success of the program. Short is the CEO and assistant community dean for the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine – Upper Peninsula Region and a family practice physician. His service is exemplified by his lifesaving efforts in March of this year. His efforts saved the life of a cross country skier who suffered a heart attack in the Great Bear Chase Ski Race. A Paul Harris Fellow denotes a contribution to the Rotary Foundation that has as its mission to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, support of education and alleviation of poverty.
