Poppy sale benefits home for vets

American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 44 members Mary Downey, left, and Wanda Westman present checks to Ken Arseneau of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans. One check for $3,826 will be used to purchase a blanket warmer that will benefit many of the 189 residents at the home, specifically those in the Special Needs Unit. A second check for $300 is for the Beauty Shop/Barber Shop Fund for residents to receive services. The funds were generated by the auxiliary’s annual poppy sale, which is set for the third week of May.
