Julie Smigiel, teacher of the middle school faith formation class at St. Peter Cathedral, presents a $786.40 check to John Hyde, regional president for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, for the organization’s food pantry. The funds, as well as donated food, were collected by the faith formation class after masses at the cathedral earlier this month as part of Souper Bowl of Caring. The national event is put on by youths to help end hunger in the United States.
