Hoop house recognized

Abbey Palmer, special projects coordinator for the Marquette Food Co-op, is shown with the sign presented to the Northern Michigan University hoop house after it was recognized through the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program as being environmentally verified. More than 500 pounds of fresh vegetables per year are produced at the 22-foot by 48-foot hoop house and a small outdoor garden. Harvests from the hoop house are donated to the culinary programs at NMU and local food banks.
