MUNISING — The Alger County Sheriff’s Office has released names of the two people who were pronounced dead at the scene of a two-snowmobile crash Monday night.

Douglas Eugene Snow, 21, of Pennsylvania and John George Shadian, 54, of Wisconsin were the two men involved in the head-on collision that occurred

on Trail No. 8 in Rock River Township around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Both Snow and Shadian had been ejected from their snowmobiles, police said, and both men were ultimately transported to UP Health System-Marquette.

Excessive speed is thought to be the cause of the accident, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
