Werners Creek bridge closed

TRENARY — A Michigan Department of Transportation inspection has deemed a bridge over Werners Creek, southwest of Trenary, unsafe for vehicle traffic of any kind.

The bridge is located about a mile north of the Alger-Delta county line, along Deadhorse Creek Road, roughly 4 miles west of U.S. 41.

“We are working on a temporary solution; however, until such time, the bridge will remain closed,” Pete Glover, a forest fire supervisor with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in Gwinn, said in a news release.

Barricades were to have been put in place on Tuesday.

Deadhorse Creek Road is a forest road used for a variety of activities, ranging from timber hauling to an access way for hunting, fishing and other recreation opportunities.
