SAULT STE. MARIE — A 20-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Thursday that occurred in Soo Township, Chippewa County.

Joseph Henry Bowen of Brimley was pronounced dead after being transported to War Memorial Hospital following the accident, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police.

Troopers from the MSP Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to the accident around 5 :15 p.m. It occurred on Mackinac Trail near 5 1/2 Mile Road.

Police said Bowen’s southbound vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound pickup truck driven by Sault Ste. Marie resident Mark McLeod, 36, who was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
