Parade on, minus spectators

DETROIT (AP) — The 94th Detroit Thanksgiving parade will march on, but any spectators probably will be in their pajamas.

People will not be allowed to line the parade route in downtown Detroit because of the coronavirus. Instead they’ll have to watch the parade on television, The Parade Company announced Thursday.

“Our team has reviewed every aspect with the city of Detroit and the Detroit Police Department to ensure a safe environment. This is truly Detroit’s greatest tradition,” said parade chief Tony Michaels.

Another Thanksgiving tradition, the Turkey Trot, which attracts thousands of runners before the parade, won’t be held downtown. People can still get medals and shirts if they register and run it on their own.
