NEGAUNEE — Strike over, mines to reopen. Striking miners on the Marquette Range held out for 122 days-and took home the best contract in the United States iron ore industry. About 1,600 United Steelworkers union members from the Empire and Tilden mines and the Brownstone Shop in western Marquette County overwhelmingly approved a 22 month contract presented in a 2 ? hour meeting Saturday afternoon. Work was expected to resume Saturday night at the Tilden mine pits. All of the nearly 2,000 miners should be back to work by the end of the week.

K.I. SAWYER — The First National Bank and Trust Co. will open its banking facility at K. I. Sawyer Air Base at 9 Tuesday morning. S. M. Cohodas, president, announced this morning. Authorization for the facility was given by both the federal Treasury Department and the Air Force. All of the normal services of a bank will be provided, including, savings, checking, bank money orders, Christmas Club, bonds, drafts, travelers checks, loan applications and loan payments. Air base personnel also will be able to pay telephone bills at the bank facility. Coffee and doughnuts will be served to those who visit the facility on opening day.
