NEGAUNEE — Sale of 1960-61 bicycle license plates will get underway Monday at the Negaunee police department office in the city building, Lt. Robert Johnson announced today. Bicycle tags, which sell for 25 cents each, are required by municipal ordinance. Plates for the new year must be purchased not later than May 14. Owners of bicycles are advised that when registering vehicles they must state the make of bicycle, serial number, and color. Those who have registration forms from last year are requested to bring them, as information available on these forms will help speed up the listing process. At the time plates are issued, officers will check to be certain that the vehicle is free from defects. Each bicycle must have a horn or bell as part of its equipment. In cases where bikes are used after dark, a headlight, and rear fender reflector also are mandatory.
