MARQUETTE — Members of the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary have allocated $600 for the purchase of six wheelchairs — folding chairs with adjustable legs and foot rests — to replace some of the worn out chairs at St. Luke’s Hospital. The wheelchairs have arrived and are now being used on the orthopedic and pediatric floors. Howard Lehwald, hospital administrator, indicated there is an acute need for improving wheelchair facilities and expressed his appreciation to the auxiliary for the contribution. Mrs. Calvin Smith, president of the Auxiliary, states that at the auxiliary’s regular meeting tomorrow, there will be a discussion regarding projects for the year 1960 to pay for the wheelchairs. Mrs. Leslie Roberts, auxiliary treasurer, and Miss Karen Moyle, a student nurse, were also on hand for the presentation.
