MARQUETTE — James Johnson, a member of the Elks’ bowling team, rolled his way into the Keglers’ Hall of Fame yesterday afternoon on the Elks’ alleys when he marked up 12 perfect strikes for the “300.” His feat was witnessed by several members of the city’s bowling leagues and A.C. Richards, proprietor of the alleys. Every one of Johnson’s strikes was clean and in the “pocket” and after each ball there wasn’t a pin on the lanes. Few bowlers have accomplished Johnson’s record on the Marquette alleys. According to unofficial records, Johnson is the third or fourth Marquette man to smack up 200. It will likely stand as a record for the season and he undoubtedly will cop the purse offered for his score this month. Johnson was in form the minute he took to the alleys, chalking up a 237 his first game. He followed this with a 235, a 211 and then 200, giving him a 646 total for his last three games.
