BIG BAY — Michigan Bell Telephone Co. has filed an application with the Michigan Public Service Commission to form an exchange in Big Bay. If approved, Michigan Bell will take over the present customers now served by the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad Co. on its own line, according to John C. Gerling, manager of the Marquette exchange. Phone holders will be able to dial anyone within the exchange. They will have to dial Marquette to get a toll line. Gerling said estimated cost of construction and equipment is around $40,000 to $50,000.
