MARQUETTE — The little maids decided that if their mothers could attend masquerade parties it might be fun for them, too, so Evelyn Samuelson gave a masquerade party at her home on High Street Saturday evening, inviting some of her girlfriends. The prize for the best costume went to Dorothy Brott who came dressed as a pirate. Kate Anderson, dressed as a Mexican (with really truly, brought-from-Mexico clothes) won a prize, too. Barbara Jean Mudge portrayed Betsy Ross. Marie Richards was a red poppy. Rhea Desotelle was a pajama girl, and Dorothy Jean Anderson was a little Dutch girl. Sigrid Abrahamson did not want to dress up at all so they made her pay a penalty. The evening was spent in playing games, bunco and putting on stunts. Refreshments were served at a table trimmed with red cherries. The favors were lollipops.
